My xbox 360 is not working need help?

okay, thers multiple things that arn't working, #1, i cant play halo 3 for some reason. everytime i do campiagn, custom games, anything it keeps saying, failure to load content EVERY TIME!!!!!! ive also noticed it LETS me play ONLY when my hard drive is unplugged, so i thought it was my hard drv and i bought a new one but again the same problem, it wont work

#2 i cant get connected to xbox live, ive called xbox and stuff, and went through a hole lot, it always fails on dns, it also fails on ip address if i set it to automatic, so i do maneul and ip passes but dns doesent, i called my ip, got my dns from my comp but nothing works

if anyone has the same problem please tell me cause i need help BAD!!!!! AND PLEASE NO ANWSERS THAT SAY GET A REPAIR!!!

1 - Try changing the position of the 360 from horizontal to vertical or vice versa. When my 360 was horizontal, I kept getting harddrive errors when I was playing Halo 3, didn't have any errors when it was vertical.
