Learn About The DeLorme PN-40
Delorme's new high quality colour aerial imaging is a true upgrade from it's previous topo and "satellite" imagery. Analyzing side by part with Google Earth, Google contains a slight edge on resolution, but it's pretty close. And for a mobile GPS, the resolution is more than you need, and you can zoom up on details that provide more than enough detail. Delorme's brand new subscription pricing option of $30 for just a year's value of unlimited map downloading is a better pricing unit than the old "pay as you go", which can got pricey quickly.
The Delorme PN-40 is fast, both in GPS acquisition and map re-drawing. The GPS continual to track whereas inside pocket. It gains a fix after being turned on regularly for just about 30 seconds. The map re-draws are usually not silky smooth if you set Earthmate PN-40 to always orient "heading up" as it constantly tries to control to your numerous path. But also in "north up" and "course up" option, where by the map is static and your arrow is proceeding, the unit is very easy to make use of. And also zooming out and in is nearly instantaneous, that is a lot swifter than earlier handheld GPS models with hi-res aerial maps.
Planning routes and waypoints on the included Topo software is an easy way to plan hikes, though you can also pick points on the little screen on the Delorme PN-40 unit if you don't have a computer nearby. That's a slower process while you have to make use of the four-direction round button, which is not that easy to nagivate round extensively.
The Delorme PN-40 unit is rugged, with high impact, tough plastic on the outside, and a battery case the screws tight with finger screws to make it water resistant. These unit is easy to work with but has a complete many layers of difficulty if you would like do extra. It took me several days of heavy use before I felt I knew all the menu options. There are lots of ways to customize the Delorme Earthmate PN-40 unit, that is most likely why I didn't feel I wished for much towards the end of the trekking week.
Though you could use this for auto routing, I find my regular auto GPS a lot easier to use for that. But for anything off roads, such as hiking or jeep riding, this unit is really great. I will be really amazed how the PN does everything!
Tough guy image..but he's a flake!?
I hung out with a new guy last week. He's in construction. When I saw him at his job, he's rugged, hard working and rough around the edges, down and dirty and really hands on about life.
But when I went to his house this week for coffee, I was kinda stranged out. His house is IMMACULATE...mostly empty. He folds all his clothes with creases in certain places, his bed is made tightly as if he's operating a hotel and he was waaay to neat - putting paper towels under our plates on the table cloth. It's actually like a he's a woman living there. I am used to guys who are...well..manly men who aren't so picky and obsessively neat.
How do I tell him I fell for him thinking he's rugged, relaxed and laid back (which is how he seemed at his job), but he's the complete opposite!
This is not something that you need to tell him. If you were turned off because of his neatness, then that's fine. It's not like it's a flaw that he must do something about.
