The Kindle DX Is A Fantastic Christmas Gift For Any Reader
If you're looking for a Christmas gift for anyone who loves to read or loves geeky gizmos then you really don't need to look any further than Amazon's 9.7" Kindle DX. You have really hit the jackpot if they are a fan of both tech gadgets and reading!
The DX is the most top of the line version of the Kindle you can buy. For anyone who needs to have a big display (particularly good for reading digital newspapers) the DX is the way to go.
While the Kindle 3G has a 6" display, the Kindle DX has a nearly 10 inch display. Both of these reading devices have global 3G wireless support without any monthly fees.
All Kindle devices have completely free access to over 1.8 million books from before 1923 that are now out of copyright. The complete works of William Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, Jane Austin, and many more legendary authors are all yours for free.
All of these devices can be used to get issues of newspapers and magazines instantly if you have a subscription. This saves time (no need to go to the bookstore), money, and paper.
The text to speech feature is also available in every current version of the Kindle. This means that every book you buy with it is really an audio book as well!
And have I even mentioned that it's far less expensive to buy E-books than it is the paper versions? E-books can be downloaded on Amazon for only $9.99! There is also no wait for the book to be sent in the mail, instead E-books can be downloaded instantaneously and read right away.
The big thing holding some people back from getting an electronic reader is the idea that looking at a computer screen to read won't be as eye friendly as reading ink on paper. But this thing's screen is not really like a computer monitor, it's much easier to read without strain. The "E Ink Pearl" display must be seen to be believed.
And if you are searching for a Christmas gift for a TV viewer instead of a reader then a good selection is Lost Complete Collection Box Set.
Any Blu-Ray Reader (not BD-RW) Internal PC Drives yet?
I don't need to burn Blu-ray Disks. I just want to be able to watch Blu-ray movies on my PC. Sony already sells laptops with Blu-ray drives in them. Surely, there should be internal BD drives out there for PC that are Read-only?

No. No PCs with built-in Blu-Ray Drive yet...
The Blu-ray and HD-DVD Players are struggling to sell and cost a lot.
it's no wonder why PC manufacturers haven't included these into their products.
In Tokyo a bicycle is faster than a car: Useless information or cautionary tale? (Commute By Bike)
"In Tokyo, a bicycle is faster than a car for most trips of less than 50
minutes." Thus saith the Internet. Many of us who live or have lived in
congested cities will find this easy to believe. This "fact" was brought to my
attention by Ray, a reader of Commute by Bike, who found [...]
