Transceiver Module Explained

The word transceiver does not only describe a distinct network device, but instead an integrated technology integrated in devices such as network cards. A transceiver is commonly used in a network environment. Whether it's an analog or digital network, a transceiver acts as both a transmitter and a receiver of signals. The transceiver is in charge in placing signals into the network media and also discovering signals travelling through the same cable in a Local Access Network or LAN.

Hence, the main functions of a transceiver make it a very regular device in network cards. But these are not only forms where you can find a transceiver. Especially in a network, a transceiver can be in the form of transceiver modules or chip types. A transceiver module is a separate device in a network and is installed and performs in the same way to other computer devices, or it may perform separately as a standalone device. On the other hand, a chip transceiver is small and is inserted into a system board or wired directly on a circuit board.

There are many kinds of transceivers that have been created because of its various uses. There are RF transceivers, fiber optic transceivers, Ethernet transceivers, wireless (WAP) transceivers, and a lot more. Although these transceivers may differ, they have basically the same functions. Each transceiver has its own characteristics like the number of ports available to connect to the network, and whether full-duplex communication is supported.

The media converter is together with the transceiver module. A media converter allows administrators to interconnect different types of media such as twisted pair, fiber, and think or think coax within the existing network. The gigabit converter is almost always a partner of the transceiver module. With a media converter, it is now viable to link newer 100Mbps, Gigabit Ethernet, or other existing networks like 10Base-T or 100Base-T. The gigabit converter can be utilized in pairs to insert a fiber segment into copper networks to lengthen distances and improve resistance to electromagnetic interference.

Depending on your networking needs, look for the right transceiver module and gigabit converter for maximum signal transmission. On top of other fiber optic devices to meet your networking needs, there are many fiber optics provider that provide these devices. Be sure to explain to your provider the specifications of your network so that they can provide you with the best fiber optic devices and transceivers.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ENTERTAINMENT ACQUIRES LU CHUAN'S "CITY OF LIFE AND DEATH' FOR DISTRIBUTION IN NORTH AMERICA (National Geographic)

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 17, 2009)—National Geographic Entertainment (NGE) has
acquired "City of Life and Death," produced, written and directed by Lu Chuan,
for distribution in North America. "City of Life and Death," which has grossed
close to $26 million in China, will screen at the 2009 Toronto International
Film Festival. "City of Life and Death" is the second major acquisition for
NGE this year, following Cherien Dabis' Sundance comedy hit "Amreeka," which
will be released in New York and Los Angeles on Sept. 4 and in other cities
soon afterward.

NGE will coordinate marketing of "City of Life and Death" with IDG China Media
Fund, part of International Data Group, a U.S. venture capital company. The
film will be released late this year or early 2010.

Lu Chuan's "City of Life and Death" is an epic tale of the defiance of
citizens who survive the 1937 Japanese occupation of China's capital, Nanjing.
The Chinese soldiers, civilians, women and children, along with courageous
American and European sympathizers — based on real personalities — fight
bravely to resist and survive when it could have been much easier for them to
accept defeat and even death.
