Tips When Choosing Desktop Hardware
From inexpensive used notebook computers. If you are one of those who us trying to build his or her personal Personal Computer (PC) from scratch but not knowledgeable in certain topics, this is the best time for you to conduct some research. This would be very helpful to you because there are countless of resources available out there for you to use as a reference.
When you are researching, make sure that you start with the basic Hardware required, keyboard, monitor, central processing unit (CPU) and mouse. Other things that you need when building up a Personal Computer will include: tower or desktop case, motherboard, processor, memory, graphics card, sound card, modem, floppy drive, hard drive, CD/DVD Rom, PC speakers, monitor, CD/DVD Writer, Blu Ray Writer, TV card, Satellite card and Cable TV card.
When choosing for Desktop Components, make sure that you:
- prioritize what you really need. Although these are all necessary for an efficient Desktop, there are some that you can do without for the moment. Make sure that you know what are those things so you don't run out of budget for more important stuff.
- don't be brand conscious. People think that because a certain Computer Components component is branded, the quality is first class. Although this might be the case, it doesn't mean that those who are not are popular are of lesser quality. Don't be too brand conscious. Pay attention to certain specifications and you will realize that you are Buying the same quality as that of the branded one, half the price.
- look around. There are so many Desktop Computer shops today that gives people so many options when choosing their Computer Parts. If you are one of those who are looking for quality PC Hardware components, don't be contended with just one store. Try to look around for other shops and compare the prices.
- consider your space. Many people don't realize it but having enough space is integral in setting up a personal Computer. This is because the quality of the PC's performance would depend on the "breathing space" it has. When choosing Desktop Computer Components components, make sure that you have enough space in you home so it won't be too crowded.
- manage your budget. This is also a major consideration when choosing Computer Parts because if you get too caught up with the price, you might be sacrificing other components that are of equal importance. When choosing, make sure to buy only those that your budget could accommodate so you won't have financial set back problems.

what kind of metal makes up floppy connectors?
I got bored and decided to strip a 24 pin floppy cable...and found a silver metal inside. is this aluminum? i thought it was not that great of a conductor... the IDE cables have copper and i cant find this info anywhere! thanks!
It's copper wire "tinned" or coated with solder, in the case of the floppy (IDC or insulation displacement connector) connector it does not serve any real purpose but when that cabling is use in soldered assembly's it solders much easier when it is tinned (solder is lead & tin in varible ratios) a lot of components come with tinned leads
Most wire and cabling you can buy either way, scrape it with a knife and a magnifying glass, you'll see
Ever see a clear speaker wire one copper, one "silver", it's copper just "tinned" so you can distinguish polarity if you need to
Or do you mean the contacts in the connector, those usually are beryllium copper, they may be a brass alloy too(not often), they may be bare, tinned with lead/tin solder or plated with gold or tin
